Hello! I hope everyone is doing well.
I sent a message on the forum in early December, but I think it might have been missed, as I posted it in a busy discussion thread.
I’m from VATSSA, and we are currently investigating implementing a form of weather radar into all our sector files, but unfortunately, RainViewer's API doesn't cover Africa. Is it possible for you to maybe add more options to the Weather Radar URLs?
We found another free API from OpenWeatherMaps, which provides a weather radar precipitation layer that covers all of Africa. However, the URL format is a bit different than RainViewer's API, and as such, we cannot use OpenWeatherMaps' API currectly:
https://tile.openweathermap.org/map/precipitation_new/{z}/{x}/{y}.png?appid={API key}
This differs from RainViewer's format. Is it possible for you to adjust the settings so we can use this API?
From what I can tell, the data provided from the API is formatted very similarly to RainViewer's API.
We would really really appreciate it! However, we understand if its not possible for you.
Thanks so much!
Regards,
George (VATSSA Staff)
