Dear member of VATSIM Scandinavia,
The election for the next vACC director will commence from today (21/12/2025) and will last until 04/01/2026. During this period of fourteen (14) days, permanent ATC controllers may cast their vote at https://cc.vatsim-scandinavia.org/.
Each member can only cast one (1) vote. Your vote is final and cannot be modified. Our voting system only keeps track of the users who have voted and the totals for each candidate, ensuring there can be no way for anyone to check which candidate you have chosen. You can either vote for a candidate or cast a blank vote. A successful candidate will need a simple majority.
After voting has ended, a member of the Tech Department and I will certify the result by manually verifying no ineligible user has been able to vote and that nobody has voted more than once. Once the result has been certified, it will be posted here on the forums in the announcements section.
Candidate(s):
Simon Bjerre (1581824)
From separated,
through union, to united,
through independence
Stronger Collaboration Across FIRs
I want to build closer alignment across the FIRs. We’re not separate units running in
isolation. We’re one vACC, and we work better when we stay connected.
There is currently blood in the water between some members and FIRs with needs to be
cleaned out before we can start moving together once again. I will try as the spearhead
to establish good relations with key individuals and try to be present in not just my own
FIR.
FIR Assistants
The setup used in Norway is a good example of what works. An assistant gives each FIR
Director support with everyday tasks and adds another clear contact point. I’d like to
formalize this role as part of the staff structure, with each FIR Director choosing the
person who fits their local needs.
Clearer Roles
It’s time to rethink how we describe roles. Instead of managers and assistants, we can
shift toward team leaders and team members. It reflects how volunteer work runs.
People step in based on skills and availability. This structure supports shared
ownership, better teamwork, and less hierarchy in places where it isn’t needed.
Transparency
I want us to be clearer about our financial situation and how we handle our funds. A
setup like the one VATEUD uses with OpenCollective would give members a simple view
of what we spend money on and what we currently hold. It builds trust, keeps things
open, and makes it easier for everyone to see how the vACC is being managed.
Conclusion
My focus as vACC Director would be to build a culture of clarity, openness, and steady
collaboration across all FIRs. When we work as one vACC and set up roles that support
real teamwork, we create a stronger and more aligned community.
Due to Simon Bjerre’s current position as Technical Manager, we have taken additional steps to ensure the integrity of the voting process. Simon has been temporarily revoked access to core systems, ensuring he cannot technically interfere with, view, or influence any votes. During this period, the rest of the technical team will maintain access to these systems to resolve any issues that may arise during this period.
