Dear VATSCA member,
2025 is now coming to an end, and what a year it have been.
We have seen many ups and downs but the Training Department is on the right track.
Almost 2 years ago we saw a major change with the GCAP implementation. This was a big hit towards VATSCA completely changing how we operate and especially train our members.
We have ever since the implementation tried to find our own way of conducting training whilst still maintaining our high level of excellent service and very capable controllers.
This year we have been focusing on primarily the S1 training, and ensuring the material and mentoring provided is at the top. We are still in the ever process to tweak the training, but we are indeed making good progress.
Looking back at the past year, I want to send my deepest gratitude to all our amazing mentors!
Without our mentor group there wouldn't be any Training Department and VATSIM couldn't survive.
So a huge thank you for all the hours you are putting into training our new members!
And now to the nerdy part. Our tech team has pulled some stats from CC, and I am very delighted with the results.
This year alone we have completed 204 trainings across Scandinavia. This including Standard, Fast-Track, Familiarsation and Transfers.
By ratings we have welcomed following to our "little" family:
S1 - 91
S2 - 52
S3 - 38
C1 - 23
A warm welcome to all our new controllers and congratulations to those of you upgrading your rating!
Looking forward 2026 is going to be an interesting year.
We in the Training Department will continue the development on our trainings, making it even better for both students and mentors.
We will try out some change in our strategies to help keep the waiting times low, and much much more.
I have had an amazing year directing the department in 2025 and looking much forward to continue build the Training in Scandinavia even stronger in 2026.
Thank you all for a good year, and wish you all a happy new year
