Hello There!
The new VATSCA constitution is now live, and with it comes a renewed vision for who we are and how we grow together.
This announcement covers what has changed: from the constitution itself, to titles, roles, and the road ahead.
I encourage every member to take a few minutes to read through it.
These changes affect all of us, and being informed is the first step to being part of something great.

Constitution
A new seat at the table
We've added a dedicated Tech Director to the Board, recognizing tech as a core pillar of how VATSCA operates.
FIR Directors serve until the membership decides otherwise
FIR Directors no longer have a fixed term, but with that comes accountability.
Members can now formally raise a Vote of No Confidence, provided at least â…“ of active FIR members are in support.
A stronger, more structured Training Director role
The Training Director is now appointed by the Board for a two-year term, with a mid-term check-in built in.
Their responsibilities have also grown to formally include oversight of Training Leads across all FIRs.
Raising the bar for dismissals
Removing a Board member is now a more deliberate process, requiring a two-thirds majority vote from the Board, replacing the previous, less defined threshold.
Deputy Directors can now vote by proxy
Deputy Directors are formally empowered to vote on behalf of their Director when needed, filling a gap that previously had no clear process.
Clearer rules for interim leadership
When a vACC Director position is temporarily vacant, we now have a defined process,
including VATEUD approval for the appointee and explicit restrictions to prevent major decisions being made during the interim period.
Organizational Changes
Titles
With the introduction of our new constitution, we are making a meaningful change to how we structure leadership.
The title of Manager will be replaced by Lead, a shift that reflects a new philosophy in how our teams and departments operate.
A Lead is not a boss with rigid demands, but a guide and mentor who empowers members to grow, take ownership, and bring their best to the organization.
Their role is to inspire, support, and help each member thrive, both personally and in what they contribute to VATSCA.
This change also signals our trust in every member to make calculated decisions they genuinely believe serve the best interests of VATSCA.
Roles
With the introduction of our new constitution, we are excited to announce the creation of the Deputy Director role.
Please join us in welcoming our two new Deputy Directors:
- Jesper Hvenegaard - Deputy Director, Copenhagen FIR
- Benjamin J - Deputy Director, Tech
Copenhagen FIR
- Splendor - NavData Lead
- Bartek - NavData Member
- Brian - NavData Member
- Magnus - Community Team member
Polaris FIR
- Lasse S, Community Team Lead
Finally, we would like to take a moment to recognize the contributions of Marius, who has stepped down from his role as Training Lead.
We are grateful for everything he has brought to VATSCA, and a vacancy post will follow shortly.
Future
The future of VATSCA is bright, and it is ours to shape together.
We have the people, the passion, and the potential to build something truly special. But that only happens when we work as one.
Not just within our own FIR or team, but across all of VATSCA. When a neighboring FIR faces a challenge, lean in.
When another team is working on something new, show curiosity. Our strength lies in collaboration without borders.
With that comes a shared responsibility to treat one another with respect. If something is on your mind,
whether it's a procedure, a workflow, or how we do things; bring it to the table openly and honestly.
Every voice matters here, and the best ideas often come from the most unexpected places.
Thanks for reading,
vACC Director, Simon Bjerre
