Dear Members.
Happy New Year! As we kick off 2025, I want to take a moment to look back on some of the things we accomplished last year and share a bit about what’s ahead for our amazing community.
Reflecting on 2024
It’s been a fantastic year for VATSIM Scandinavia. Our events brought in more pilots than ever, and we continued to deliver a top-notch experiences across our FIRs. This can be seen in the wast amounts of feedback we get. For every twenty feedback or so we get only one is negative. I have also seen a growing interest amongst controllers in helping other countries with staffing during events. Particularly "Cross The Pond - westbound" comes to mind, where Iceland was heavily understaffed, but with the help of all countries managed to staff all positions. This is the way I like to see our community develop.
Another particular highlight was the launch of our pilot training program, an exciting milestone that many of you eagerly embraced. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of instructors, we had to put the program on hold. It was a tough decision, but the interest and enthusiasm we saw tell us there’s great potential to revisit this initiative when the time is right. To everyone who contributed to this project - thank you.
Why we stand out
What makes VATSIM Scandinavia special? It’s the quality of what we do and the strong sense of community we’ve built together. From the complexity of our airspaces to the friendships formed along the way, it’s the people behind the screens who make every flight and session memorable.
Donations
We started 2024 with -6,59€ after services were paid. During the year we had many generous donations. Members took upon them self to collect funds through streams etc., and donated the money to VATSCA. I am happy to announce that our current balance is 1.055.30€. A big thanks to all who have donated.
Looking ahead
2025 will be full of exciting opportunities. We’re planning new training programs, exiting events, and more to keep you flying and controlling at your best. This year, we’ll focus on making sure everyone feels supported and connected. Let’s keep pushing each other to grow, while staying true to what makes this vACC great: professionalism, passion, and teamwork.
Director position
January is, per our constitution, the month were the director must announce whether he or she wishes to continue.
I’m happy to announce that I’ll be staying on as Director for one more year. It’s been an absolute privilege to lead this division, and I’m excited to continue working with all of you. Together, we can build on the progress we’ve made and keep reaching for new heights.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who makes this community what it is. Whether you’re controlling a local airport, flying a regional route, or helping others learn and grow, your involvement matters. To all the staff, mentors, and members who dedicate their time selflessly - thank you. Your work makes a difference.
Let’s make 2025 a year to remember. Here’s to clear skies, great separations, smooth landings, and many great flights ahead!
Warm regards,
Daniel Dahl Andersen
