  1. @Mikko Pystynen passed the checkout with flying colours, well done!
  2. Jouni just passed his checkout, a big round of applause and welcome to the team!
  3. Join me to congratulate Ville who just passed the checkout and earned the S3 rating, well done!
  4. Hello everyone, We've now completed the handover of the position with @Julius Mannermaa and this is my official announcement of taking over the Helsinki FIR DIR role as of today. I would like to thank Julius for his dedication to the common good of the FIR and I'm excited to take over and see what the future holds. Feel free to reach out to me if you have anything at all in mind, like questions, ideas, etc. I'm best available on the VATSIM Scandinavia Discord server in the Finnish chat or private message and here on the forums. My availability will be quite limited for the next two weeks or so but after that you should see me in the VATSIM skies and on the scopes more often. ? Best regards, Joonatan Porkkala Director of Helsinki FIR

It's time for another checkout in Finland on Thursday the 7th of June at 17-20z (20-23 local time) when Ville Vapaaoksa takes the hot seat on Helsinki Tower to prove the examiner he's got what it takes to receive his long-awaited S2 rating and become a fully qualified Tower controller. As always, we need your help to ensure a successful checkout; you're very much welcome to fly in and out of EFHK during the examination with any aircraft, large or small, IFR or VFR, and help the examinee reach the required amount of movements for success. If you're planning a flight further out than the Helsinki area, don't worry as there will be excellent adjacent ATC available in Helsinki and throughout Finland and beyond. Thanks in advance for helping us out and welcome to Finland!

  7. Join me to congratulate Mikael for passing his checkout, well done!
  8. Thanks! Feel free to steal it, I figured Jeppesen probably won't give me a copyright strike for this one .
  9. It's time for some long-awaited checkout hype in Finland! On Thursday the 24th of May 2018 at 17-20z (20-23 local time) Mikael Harju will have his chance on Helsinki Tower (EFHK) to prove he's got what it takes to become a fully qualified Tower controller and earn his S2 controller rating. As always, we need your help to get there. All movements, IFR or VFR, are very much welcome to fly in or out of Helsinki to give the candidate traffic to work with and to ensure crowded skies and busy frequencies under the Finnish summer dusk. The sun won't set until after 19z, so why not do some relaxing VFR hops with your favourite GA aircraft in the Helsinki area? And naturally, if you're after the heavy metal, there will be excellent ATC coverage in Helsinki and throughout Finland thanks to the weekly Helsinki in Sight event. We'll get you on your way to wherever around the world your destination may be, or welcome you into Helsinki for a smooth arrival, all the while helping Mikael earn his rating. See you on the 24th!
